Spotlight: Sarah Edson
You never know what kinda quirky you will find at Book Group but most likely you will find a perfect match to your own. That setting leaned towards apropos for Sarah and I to meet and immediately plan adventurous outings together! We gravitated towards each other by great conversation and similar experiences then bonded over Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune with steaming mugs of hot chocolate in hand, laughter in our throats.
Sarah hosted me while I lived between…ok, while I was homeless. What a kind, gentle, caring soul. I relished walking with her and her dog, Pearl, around the neighborhood or the block, hiking Aspen Trail or checking on snow levels further into the canyons, book group, movie nights, Bingo, paint nights, snuggling baby goats, and all the countless shenanigans we’ve squeezed into our time of friendship. Seems like more than a year right?! Some souls have known each other for eons and I think ours certainly have. I’m excited for all our future whirlwinds and in the meantime savor our Sunday morning coffee catch ups.
SARAH’S BIO:
Sarah grew up in a skiing family in Sewickley, PA. With three brothers and two sisters, they all spent weekends skiing at Seven Springs with their many cousins.
After graduating from high school, Sarah attended Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire and obtained an Associates Degree. Then, spent five years working in Pittsburgh before moving to Boston to attend Boston University.
Sarah became a part time ski instructor at Loon Mountain in the winter of 1990/91 and in the fall moved to Vermont for a slower pace of life (and to ski as much as possible!). Over the next 30 years in Vermont, Sarah became a guide for blind skiers, learned to tele ski, and became an avid cyclist.
2022 brought the decision to move to Teton Valley, Idaho to be closer to family and continue a love affair with skiing. Sarah claims she has met the most amazing group of people since moving to the area - including the amazing LK Young.
In May of 2024, Sarah retired from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society after 24 years! Now, she explores the beauty of the area and looks forward to skiing as much as possible.
